      Featuring Jeanne Tubman

      About Jeanne...

      Jeanne M. Tubman is a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, studied art at Lake Superior State University and Sault College of Ontario. Jeanne participated in intense workshops with Priscilla Hauser in Detroit, Michigan in 1985. She studied with Pricilla and Sue Scheewe through the HIA in Chicago, Ill in 1985 and 1986. Her specialty is "photorealism", an artistic style resembling photography, which produces an accurate and detailed representation of the subject. During the past 30 years, Jeanne has taught classes in sketching, oil painting, and decorative art through Lake Superior State University as well as through local art stores and galleries. In 2005, she appeared in dozens of juried shows throughout the state of Michigan and in a solo exhibition at the Alberta House Arts Center. She taught a seminar at the Grand Traverse Resort, Traverse City, Michigan in April of 2006 for the Michigan Decorative Arts Association and has been asked to return in May of 2008. In 2006, she produced a mural of North American Fur Trading Routes from 1600 to 1820at the River of History Museum in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. In 2007, she painted an anishnabe ice fishing mural at the River of History Museum. In the spring of 2007, she painted a 75 foot long mural of wildlife and waterfalls at the Antlers Restaurant and is currently working on a 50 foot long mural of the Saint Mary's River from 1880 to present day showing the progression of river traffic from canoes to 1000 foot freighters. In 2006, and 2007, Avery Color Studios of Gwinn, Mi, published two of Jeanne's lighthouse charts now being sold throughout the great lakes region. Jeanne's third lighthouse chart, Northern Lake Michigan, will be published by Avery Color Studios in the spring of 2008.
